We Do Whatever the Fuck We Want

Patchbay Saints

Patchbay Saints is a power-pop trio born out of distance, collaboration, and a shared fixation on sound as both craft and art object. Formed by Christian Andy Grooms and Chris McBurney/Stebnitz in Madison, Wisconsin, alongside Neil Cabana in Providence, Rhode Island, the band exists across scenes rather than within a single one - drawing energy from DIY culture, art-school experimentation, and the discipline of pop songwriting.

At its core, Patchbay Saints is driven by melody. Grooms brings a sharp instinct for hooks and lyrical economy, grounding the band’s sound in classic power-pop tradition. McBurney/Stebnitz pushes against that foundation with a more tactile, experimental approach - introducing rhythmic tension, unexpected textures, and a willingness to let imperfections remain part of the final statement. Cabana acts as connective tissue, shaping arrangements and sonics with a focus on space, balance, and emotional impact.

Their debut album, COMPRESSION, captures the band’s philosophy in both sound and image. The record’s eight tracks are tightly structured yet expressive, embracing saturation, pressure, and density as creative tools rather than technical constraints. The cover art - a crude, expressive painting of a high-end studio mixing console - serves as a visual manifesto: expensive tools rendered raw, precision filtered through instinct.

Patchbay Saints operate in the tension between control and release, fidelity and feeling. Their music is deliberate but not precious, refined but never sterile - a compressed signal that still breathes.
