We Do Whatever the Fuck We Want

Neil Cabana

Neil Cabana is a songwriter, storyteller, and spiritual survivor whose music channels the grit of American roots rock with the grace of poetic reflection. Raised in a family of artists, actors, and musicians, Neil penned his first song at age 12 and has been crafting music ever since. After a transformative journey into sobriety and healing, his work now weaves deeply personal narratives with a sense of universal searching. A spiritual undercurrent pulses beneath his smoky vocals and cinematic arrangements - drawing comparisons to artists like Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave, and The War on Drugs.

Neil is a songwriter who doesn’t stay in one place for long. His voice shows up where it’s needed: singing the hooks on Above the Skies with Pharaoh Loco and Save the World with Kal Duzay, releasing his own album The Mountmellick, sharing songs and vocals in Rat Rooster Tiger, and fronting bands like Daisy Ricochet and Patchbay Saints. Long before that, he moved through the 1990s hip-hop underground as Virachoca. The through-line isn’t genre but attention - to melody, to rhythm, to whatever the song is asking for. Folk, rock, hip-hop, Americana, and experimental textures all pass through his work without announcement.

Outside of writing and singing, Cabana works quietly behind the scenes as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and visual storyteller. Based in Los Angeles, he runs Dog and King LLC and founded Dog + King Records, building projects that treat sound, image, and narrative as parts of the same language. After decades of making records, touring, scoring films, and collaborating across scenes, he tends to think less about legacy and more about listening - showing up, contributing honestly, and moving on to the next song.
